The long way to new beginning

Aleppo Market - Family Picture
Group of people and kids, the team of Aleppo Market in Berlin.

Upon arriving in Berlin, a Syrian female refugee was filled with a mix of emotions, including hope, confusion, and a multitude of questions. She wondered how the locals would treat her, how much hard work would be required to learn about Germany, and what it meant to live and work in Germany as a woman. The answers that came to her mind made it clear that there were numerous opportunities and features for her future in Germany. This realization allowed her to become an entrepreneur and cultural ambassador for her home country, breaking stereotypes in the process.

Syrian women are known for their strength and independence, as they create and develop their lives 50/50 with men. The multitasking skills of the women in Aleppo proved to be a valuable method for many female refugees to connect with the Berliner community and lay the foundation for becoming active businesswomen, who aim to introduce their heritage and culture to German society as a means of both integration and “extegration.”

Syrian women aspire to portray the true image of their gender as being effective agents for the development of their society. They find deep inspiration in the story of German women, who played a significant role in rehabilitating Germany after World War II. This inspiration is combined with the authentic Syrian woman spirit, which is embodied in the entrepreneurial spirit of the founder of Aleppo Market, a female Syrian refugee who imports groceries from the Middle East and conducts intense marketing campaigns within her circles. Her commitment to authenticity and quality has resulted in the establishment of one of the largest Syrian markets in Europe.
